Socorro ISD in Texas admits to overtaxing homeowners last year, charging more than the maximum rate allowed by the Texas Education Agency. The district says it will reduce the tax rate for this upcoming school year, meaning the average homeowner will pay $24 less. Additionally, due to budget revisions, the district will maintain its aquatics center and not relocate Pre-K students from the historic Escontrias building.
