PanTeXas Deterrence, a joint venture led by BWX Technologies Inc., has been awarded a $30bn contract to manage and operate the Pantex plant in Texas. The contract, initially for five years, has three additional five-year option periods, potentially spanning 20 years. The plant, near Amarillo, is operated by the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and is responsible for the safety, security and effectiveness of the country's nuclear weapons stockpile.
