10th Circuit Court rules Robert Dear, charged with 2015 Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood killings, can be forcibly medicated with anti-psychotics to restore competency for trial.

The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that Robert Dear, the man charged with killing three people at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic in 2015, can be forcibly medicated with anti-psychotic drugs in an effort to restore his competency and move his trial forward. The court found that the district court provided sufficiently particularized findings and did not clearly err in placing greater weight on the government's expert testimony, which estimated that anti-psychotics have a more than 70% chance of restoring Dear to competency.
