BLM approves scaled-back Lava Ridge wind turbine project in Idaho, reducing size by 50% and placing turbines 9 miles from Minidoka National Historic Site.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has released the final review for the Lava Ridge wind turbine project in Idaho, opting for a scaled-back version that reduces the project's size by almost 50% to lessen its environmental impact. The preferred alternative places wind turbines at least 9 miles away from the sensitive Minidoka National Historic Site, where 13,000 Japanese Americans were once interned. The project is expected to create up to 700 jobs during construction and 20 permanent jobs once operational, while generating $21.9 million in annual tax revenue.
