New Zealand's largest supermarket operator, Foodstuffs, has received backing from its grocery store owners, who are the co-op's shareholders, for a proposal to merge its North and South Island divisions. The merger aims to create a single national Foodstuffs co-op and is subject to approval from the Commerce Commission and High Court. The company's brands include Pak'nSave, New World, and Four Square.
