Connecticut's top public defender, TaShun Bowden-Lewis, has been fired by the Public Defender Services Commission after allegations of misconduct, including unfounded racism allegations, mistreatment of employees, and improperly accessing emails of staff and the commission chairman. Bowden-Lewis denies the 16 allegations and plans to appeal the termination, calling it "unlawful". She was the first Black person to hold the position.
