Former Colorado public defender fired after complaining about excessive caseload, sues for retaliation.

Travis Weiner, a former Colorado public defender, has filed a lawsuit against his former employer, alleging he was fired for raising concerns about an unsustainable caseload. Weiner claims he was handling about 100 felony cases and up to 275 misdemeanor cases simultaneously, far exceeding recommended limits. Despite his protests, he was not allowed to transfer cases. The lawsuit contends that the Office of State Public Defender ignored his warnings and retaliated by firing him.
