Welsh government defers decision on shortening school summer holidays due to public opposition and lack of consensus.

The Welsh Government has decided not to proceed with plans to shorten the school summer holidays and change the school year for the time being, due to divided public opinion, equivocal responses, and opposition from teaching unions and industries. The decision has been deferred to the next Senedd term, and no changes to the school year will be made during this term. The consultation received over 16,000 responses.
