Lebanon's political class, fuel companies, and private electricity providers have blocked Qatar's offer to build three renewable energy power plants to address the country's longstanding electricity crisis, according to Lebanon's caretaker economy minister, Amin Salam. Lebanon's electricity situation worsened during its economic meltdown in 2019, causing power cuts throughout the day and reliance on expensive diesel generators.
