Indonesia's BMKG warns of potential droughts and peatland fires across 19% of the country during the dry season, urging authorities to prepare prevention and mitigation measures.
Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warns of potential droughts and peatland fires as the dry season begins in 19% of Indonesia's territory, particularly in Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau, West Java, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Some other regions in Java, Bali, and the Southeast Islands will enter the dry season within the next three weeks. The BMKG recommends applying weather modification technology and calls for authorities to prepare for prevention and mitigation measures as most of the country is expected to face droughts until September.
