International scientists discovered a specific brain network hub linked to stuttering, which can lead to new treatment options. The research, published in the Brain journal, examines two types of stuttering – developmental and acquired, and shows similarities at both behavioural and neural levels. Lead author Catherine Theys, Associate Professor at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, states that stuttering affects 1% of adults and can cause communication problems and social anxiety.
