Millions of UK households face a significant increase in water bills, with Southern Water requesting the largest rise to £915 per year by 2030. The Consumer Council for Water (CWC) warns that these bill increases will come as a "massive surprise" to people. The proposed increases aim to fund £100bn of spending on replacing ageing, leaking pipes and reducing sewage discharges into rivers and seas.
