UK's National Audit Office reports government's post-Brexit border control strategy lacks timetable and integrated plan, causing delays and increased costs.
The UK's National Audit Office (NAO) has reported that the government's strategy for full post-Brexit border controls lacks a clear timetable and an integrated cross-government delivery plan. Despite the UK government's ambition for "the world's most effective border" by 2025, the NAO found repeated changes and delays in implementing full import controls, causing uncertainty for businesses and increased costs for the government and ports. The overall cost of implementing new border arrangements is estimated to be £4.7 billion.
