Kenya's Chamber of Commerce has raised concerns over the proposed Ksh.2 million penalty for non-compliance with the Electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS) in the Finance Bill 2024. KNCCI President Erick Rutto criticized the penalty as punitive and warned it would negatively impact small business owners. The KNCCI is urging the government to prioritize capacity-building initiatives to help MSMEs effectively adopt and comply with eTIMS.
