India offers to train Maldivian pilots for Dornier aircraft at the request of Maldives Defense Minister.
India is ready to train Maldivian pilots to fly Dornier aircraft if requested, according to the Ministry of External Affairs. Capacity building is an important component of defense and security engagement between India and the Maldives. Maldives Defence Minister Ghassan Maumoon admitted that the country's defense forces are still not capable of operating the three aircraft donated by India.
