Alligator sightings are increasing in Tennessee as they migrate north from the Deep South, with the first documented alligator in the state appearing in 2018. West Tennessee has had several confirmed sightings in Shelby, Fayette, and Hardin counties. Amy Spencer of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency attributes the higher visibility of alligators in the area to their natural migration.
