The University of Oregon, University of Nevada, Reno, and University of California, San Diego have created the world's largest public-facing network of wildfire detection cameras, ALERTWest. Comprised of 1,200 cameras using AI, the system provides early alerts about new fires, improving response times and helping firefighters extinguish small fires before they grow. With a single login, firefighters can access and monitor every camera throughout the western US.
