New Zealand will increase funding for both defence and foreign affairs in the upcoming budget, as part of a move to shrink the public service. Finance Minister Nicola Willis aims to "right-size the government's footprint," with the country's new government led by Chris Luxon ordering agency chiefs to find savings of about 7%. Defence and foreign affairs ministries will receive a budget boost in addition to any efficiency dividend.
