ISRO successfully ignites semi-cryo pre-burner for semi-cryogenic engine development, enhancing payload capability of LVM3 rocket.

ISRO achieves successful ignition of semi-cryo pre-burner, a key milestone in the development of semi-cryogenic propulsion systems. The Indian space agency is developing a 2,000 kN thrust semi-cryogenic engine using a liquid oxygen (LOX)-kerosene propellant combination to enhance the payload capability of LVM3 rocket and future launch vehicles. This engine is being developed by the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) with support from other ISRO launch vehicle centres. The assembly and testing of the propulsion modules have been done at the ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC) in Mahendragiri.
