India tests its first indigenous 1,500 HP engine for Main Battle Tanks, featuring advance technologies and high power-to-weight ratio, in Mysuru.

India's Ministry of Defence has successfully tested its first indigenously-made 1,500 HP engine for Main Battle Tanks at the BEML's Engine division in Mysuru. The engine, which features advanced technologies and a high power-to-weight ratio, is designed for operability in extreme conditions, including high altitudes, sub-zero temperatures, and desert environments. This accomplishment marks a significant milestone in India's defense capabilities and showcases the nation's commitment to self-reliance in defense technologies. The project, initiated in August 2020, is scheduled for completion by mid-2025.
