Phoenix City Council approved $9.3m in federal funding for creating/preserving 432 affordable housing units. The money from HUD HOME program will support six properties, creating 279 new units and preserving 153. Mayor Kate Gallego emphasized the urgent need for safe, affordable housing in Phoenix, where nearly 46% of residents are low/extremely low-income.
