A family of four escaped unharmed from a fire in their kitchen in Southminster, Essex, after a smoke alarm alerted them. The fire started at 2:47 am and Essex Fire and Rescue believe it was caused by an electrical fault in a fridge freezer. Watch Manager Jon Vincent emphasized the importance of working smoke alarms, as they alerted the family to the fire and allowed them to evacuate their home safely.
