Woman burned escaping house fire that started in airing cupboard; lacked upstairs smoke alarm warning.

A woman in Essex was injured with burns to her arms after escaping a fire that started in her house's airing cupboard in Langdon Hills. Despite having a smoke alarm downstairs, the one on the first floor did not activate, delaying early warning. Firefighters responded, extinguished the fire, and provided first aid. Watch Manager Rob Fossett stressed the importance of working smoke alarms on every level and will provide safety advice and check alarms in the area on January 10.
