177-pound, nearly 17-foot Burmese python caught in Everglades; 4th heaviest, 22nd longest on record.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) caught one of the heaviest Burmese pythons ever recorded, weighing 177 pounds and measuring nearly 17 feet in length. Caught by Kurt Cox in the Everglades Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area, this massive snake is the fourth heaviest and 22nd longest recorded in the PATRIC program, which began in 2017 and offers payments for capturing nonnative constrictors over four feet long. The heaviest Burmese python removed from Florida was a 215-pound, 17.7-foot female captured in 2021.
