Liberia's Senate ordered an investigation into the Ministry of Public Works for awarding $21m contracts without legislative approval, allegedly violating the 2005 Public Procurement Act. The Senate Committees on Judiciary, Public Works, and Public Accounts & Audits are tasked with investigating and reporting back within one week. Senators argue that the ministry should not proceed with contracts until an approved national budget is passed.
