NDC accuses NPP govt of awarding overpriced contracts, including Sunyani Airport, to VP's brother's company through sole-sourcing, contradicting their prior criticism.

Ghana's opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) accuses the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government of awarding lucrative contracts, including the rehabilitation of Sunyani Airport and two cocoa road projects, to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's brother's company, Resource Access Limited, through sole-sourcing. NDC Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, claims the practice contradicts the NPP's previous criticism of sole-sourcing before coming to power in 2016 and alleges that it has become the norm for awarding contracts to relatives and cronies of Bawumia. The Auditor-General's report reveals the projects to be "overpriced" and awarded in breach of the Public Procurement Law, resulting in significant financial loss for the nation.
