Gauteng High Court orders Public Protector's office to pay Mkhwebane's legal costs in delayed gratuity payment case.
The Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has ordered the Public Protector's office to pay former public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane's legal costs for the delay in her R10 million gratuity payment case. The court removed Mkhwebane's litigation from the urgent court roll as the matter was "not ripe for hearing," with Judge Colleen Collis criticising the Public Protector's office and its head, Kholeka Gcaleka, for failing to file documents explaining the rationale behind the Chapter 9 Institution's refusal to pay Mkhwebane's gratuity.
