The Arkansas Supreme Court has overturned a lower court's ruling that denied a request for new DNA testing in the West Memphis 3 case, which dates back to the 1993 murder of three 8-year-old boys. Damien Echols, one of the three men released in 2011 after serving almost 20 years in prison, sought additional genetic testing of evidence from the crime scene. The court's 4-3 decision allowed Echols to seek new DNA testing, potentially clearing his name and finding the real perpetrator.
