3 men charged with mischief in Coutts border blockade trial; no need to prove they were protest leaders.

Jurors heard closing arguments in the Coutts border blockade trial for three men charged with mischief. The Crown prosecutor stated that jurors do not have to determine the accused were protest kingpins to find them guilty. Instead, if jurors are satisfied that the three were demonstrably supporting the blockade, they should convict them of mischief over $5,000. The Crown does not have to prove that the men were the leaders of the protest. Alex Van Herk, Marco Van Huigenbos, and Gerhard Janzen are on trial in the Court of King's Bench in Lethbridge, Alberta.
