Illinois federal jury finds Amazon Web Services (AWS) guilty of violating patent rights of tech firm Kove, requiring AWS to pay $525 million in damages for infringing on three Kove patents covering essential data-storage technology. Kove, which pioneered high-performance cloud storage years before the cloud's advent, sued Amazon in 2018, claiming infringement. Amazon plans to appeal the verdict.
