Google-backed Cropin Technology launches open-source AI model 'Aká¹£ara' for climate-smart agriculture in Global South.

Google-backed Cropin Technology has launched 'Aká¹£ara', an open-source AI model for climate-smart agriculture, targeting undeserved farmers in the Global South. The model, which covers nine crops in five countries of the Indian subcontinent, aims to remove knowledge barriers and empower anyone in the agriculture ecosystem to build frugal and scalable AI solutions. Cropin has meticulously compressed 'Aká¹£ara' into 4-bit from 16-bit to minimise the environmental impact of running large language models.
