Two human-caused wildfires occurred near Fort Raleigh National Historic Site's Freedom Trail, damaging 0.07 and 0.06 acres of woodland. The National Park Service is seeking public assistance in identifying those responsible, with no current public safety risk. The site, significant for being the location of the Roanoke Colony, was extinguished by park officials and local fire departments.
