Quebec proposes a bill to fine or injunct individuals harassing or threatening politicians.

Quebec has tabled a bill that, if passed, could impose fines of up to $1,500 or a court injunction on individuals who harass or threaten politicians. The proposed legislation aims to address the toxic climate faced by elected officials and give police the power to fine those who disrupt city council meetings with disorderly conduct. If enacted, the bill would also allow politicians facing comments or actions that hinder their duties or invade their privacy to seek an injunction from the Superior Court.
