West Virginia State Treasurer, Riley Moore, has banned Citigroup, TD Bank, Northern Trust, and HSBC from providing state banking services due to their perceived "boycott" of the fossil fuels industry. This move follows the passing of a 2022 GOP law that allows the state treasurer to develop a list of financial institutions that have publicly stated they will refuse, terminate, or limit doing business with coal, oil, or natural gas companies without a reasonable business purpose.
