China launches plan to increase grain output by 50 million tonnes by 2030, focusing on corn and soybeans.

China has launched a new effort to significantly increase its grain output by 2030, aiming to boost production capacity by over 50 million tonnes, according to the State Council's action plan. This move is in response to the tight balance between grain supply and demand, with the gap potentially expanding in the future. The plan sets the grain growing area at around 1.75 billion mu (117 million hectares) and targets a grain yield per mu of 420 kilograms. Corn and soybeans will be the main contributors to the increased output.
