Malawi advances biodiversity conservation through BIOFIN project, restructuring budget, carbon trading, and payment for ecosystem services.

Malawi is making progress in biodiversity conservation efforts through the Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) project, according to United Nations Development Program Resident Representative Fenella Frost. The country has shown commitment in mobilizing resources by restructuring the budget, promoting carbon trading, and implementing payment for ecosystem services. Malawi's Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs has also developed biodiversity budgeting codes for various ministries to allocate funds for biodiversity conservation within the public finance system.
