B.C. to get wildfire training and education centre in response to expert task force.

Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia plans to open a new wildfire training program in 2025, following severe wildfire seasons. The program, which will offer undergraduate students the opportunity to earn academic credit as they train to fight and manage wildfires, will cover subjects such as wildfire science, climate and community adaptation, and emergency management. The new program is a partnership between the university and the BC Wildfire Service, and is expected to offer a range of subjects from basic wildfire training to post-doctoral research in fire behaviour.
