South Africa's National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula resigned amidst ongoing corruption investigations involving allegations of bribery during her tenure as Defence Minister. Mapisa-Nqakula denies the allegations and stated that her resignation is to "clear her good name." She will be replaced by her deputy, Lechesa Tsenoli, until further notice. The African National Congress (ANC) praised her for taking responsibility.
