Ontario Premier Doug Ford wants all spots in the province's medical schools reserved for students from Ontario, currently about 18% of students come from foreign countries. Ford stated his intention during an announcement for a new medical school at York University, arguing for "100% of Ontario students going to these universities" to care for "our kids first". Ford's office later clarified that he was specifically referring to medical school seats.
