Researchers create antibiotic-infused hydrogel inhibiting bacterial growth with potential for improved chronic wound treatment.
Researchers have developed a novel antibiotic-infused hydrogel, combining Gel-MA, polylysine, and platelet-rich blood plasma, which kills bacteria and promotes cell growth. The hydrogel inhibits bacterial growth, prevents antibiotic resistance, and can be cured under a UV lamp for 30 seconds, avoiding lengthy freezing and thawing processes. This advancement could provide better treatments for patients with chronic wounds, particularly those with metabolic diseases like diabetes.
