60-star satellite discovered by international scientists, possibly the faintest ancient star cluster or closest dwarf galaxy.

An international team of scientists, led by University of Victoria astronomers, has discovered an ancient group of 60 stars orbiting our own galaxy. This previously unknown satellite is believed to be the faintest ancient star cluster or the faintest and closest known dwarf galaxy. The group of stars, spread over a volume of about 10 light-years, could help researchers uncover the origins of the universe.
