NASA tested CADRE rovers for lunar surface mapping and obstacle avoidance in August 2023.

NASA successfully tested its Cooperative Autonomous Distributed Robotic Exploration (CADRE) rovers, designed to journey to the moon and map its surface autonomously. The mini rovers demonstrated their ability to navigate together and change course to avoid obstacles during testing in August 2023. They will survey the lunar terrain in 3D using solar panels, cameras, sensors, and ground-penetrating radar.
