Taiwan's navy chief, Tang Hua, plans to visit the US next week to attend a military ceremony and discuss boosting bilateral naval cooperation amid China's rising threats towards Taiwan. While Taiwan and the US have an unofficial, close relationship, US formally recognizes China, not Taiwan. Tang is expected to attend a Pacific Fleet change-of-command ceremony in Hawaii and the Sea-Air-Space conference in Washington.
