UK convenience retailer Co-op becomes the first in its sector to have net-zero targets validated by SBTi, aiming for own operations by 2035 and value chain by 2040.

Co-op, a UK convenience retailer, has become the first in the sector to have its net-zero targets validated by the globally-recognized Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Co-op aims to achieve net-zero emissions across its own operations by 2035 and its entire value chain by 2040. The retailer, which operates 2,400 food stores, is one of the first companies in the UK to set science-based targets for forest, land, and agriculture (FLAG) emissions.
