El Salvador replacing gang violence with state violence: Amnesty.

Amnesty International has warned of a spiraling human rights crisis in El Salvador, where President Nayib Bukele's state of emergency measures to combat gang violence are deemed "disproportionate." Since March 2022, more than 78,000 people have been detained, and 235 deaths have occurred in state custody. The rights group states that reducing gang violence by replacing it with state violence "cannot be a success."
