The U.S. 1st Circuit Court of Appeals has ordered further investigation into claims of juror bias in the case of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The court ruled that the trial court judge's previous investigation into potential juror bias did not meet constitutional requirements. If the lower court's investigation reveals that either of the jurors in question should have been disqualified, Tsarnaev's death sentence may be vacated, and a new penalty-phase trial would be held to determine if he should be sentenced to death.
