SNP requests Stone of Destiny fragment reunification for Perth display, pending authenticity assessment.
The SNP has requested that a fragment, believed to be from the Stone of Destiny, be reunited with the artifact when it goes on display at its new home in Perth. The SNP's national executive committee has agreed to pass the fragment to the Commissioners for the Safeguarding of the Regalia for assessment, with Historic Environment Scotland set to determine its authenticity. The Stone of Destiny, a significant coronation stone, was famously stolen from Westminster Abbey in 1950.
