Study reveals Altar Stone at Stonehenge originates from northeastern Scotland, not Orkney.

A study led by Professor Richard Bevins from Aberystwyth University has determined that the Altar Stone at Stonehenge does not originate from Orkney, as previously thought, but from another location in northeastern Scotland. The six-tonne stone, distinct from Stonehenge's bluestones and sarsens, was analyzed alongside Neolithic stones in Orkney. The researchers continue to seek the precise origin of the Altar Stone, as detailed in the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports.
