The UN's Food Systems Summit in Sept 2021 stressed the need for transforming food systems to address rapid challenges, with UN Sec-Gen Guterres emphasizing focus on feeding growing populations, health & well-being, nature restoration, climate neutrality, local adaptation & inclusive economies. Every country is urged to appoint a national food systems convenor to create a pathway for a transformed food system. The WHO is set to discuss food issues in 2023. However, voluntary agreements with the food industry are deemed insufficient to tackle these massive challenges.
