Former MBTA Transit Police officer Shawn McCarthy has been convicted of three counts of rape for sexually assaulting two women while on duty in 2012. McCarthy, 50, raped the women after taking them on a "joyride" in his cruiser from near the Aquarium T station to an area near the Museum of Science. The jury's verdict follows a trial in Suffolk Superior Court, and McCarthy is scheduled to be sentenced on March 20.
